The walls in my parents garage appear to be looking a bit damp. I have attached a picture below. On the other side of these wall are the garden with the top of the garage being grass height i.e. there is lots of earth behind the wall.
The house is on a slight hill such that the natural drain of water would be towards the back wall.
I realise the solution to this would be a proper fix but due to the access/ amount of earth involved etc it could be a job costing 10K/15K+ job.
The bricks are not soft in any way so not structurally compromised but I was wondering if there is anything we could paint over the bricks to stop any further damp coming in i.e. something I could paint on, then paint over with some simple while paint to tidy up the garage.
The damp is not really getting any worse. They have been in the house 30 years and its always been like that - looking almost exactly like that for the last 5+ years
Any thoughts?
