sealing exhaust joint?

What is better for sealing an exhaust joint, I have some gum gum or silicone thermostat sealant.

Any advice truly appreciated.

Gun gum is plenty good enough. Make sure you apply it to the male section of the joint so that any excess is squeezed out and not into the system where it will harden and rattle.

Assembly paste is good too, I find it a lot easier to work with.

I've seen silicone used before - and it lasts surprisingly well on the "cold end" of the exhaust, but ultimately, it breaks down after a while. Some racing guys use it because it makes disassembly of slip joints easier, but that's a special case.
