hi everyone,

i have just fitted a new shower and am about to put some sealer around the shower tray i was going to do it inside the shower but i have been told you should do it on the outside? is this true, why? can i do it inside and out?

cheers for any advise.

Generally you seal the outside only because then any water that gets under the screen will run back into the tray rather than finding a weak spot in the outer seal

I was told to seal the vertical edges of the screen to the wall on the inside, and the base of the screen to the tray on the outside, extending about 150mm up the wall.

The theory is the vertical seals inside stop the water getting behind the screen fixings, and the horizontal seal outside catches anything that does get past the vertical seal, and diverts it back into the tray.
