the alternator belt has shredded. i need to remove the other belt ( water pump, P.a.s.) in order to fit it. i cant see how or where to slacken this belt off in order to remove it.

This belt has no separate tensioner on it, and I believe the PAS pulley (the bottom one thats awkward to get to) is on an elongated bracket - only my dud memory though! This motor must have air conditioning, I think?

look in the faqs in the tech section of the forum,

sounds like your alternator pully may of seized,also may need a new tensioner fitted,
read up on the problem,and if your anywhere near me i have the pully tool you can borrow.
