Has anyone had to replace the seatbelts on a 1996(N) Corsa?

The drivers side belt on my wife's Corsa has broken - the belt doesn't clip into the socket anymore. Is it a case of just replacing the top part of the socket or do you need to replace the whole pre-tensioner mechanism?

It could be the socket thing it plugs into is not catching it, possibly due to a bit of debris in it, try plugging the passenger belt into the drivers socket (or vice versa), if that works then replace the broken socket, just a bolt on most cars.

We took the car to the local garage to have a look - because the seat belt has a pre-tensioner linked to the airbag we will have to replace the whole assembly at £135 plus fitting!

I had a 1993 Corsa TD which was recalled for a fault in the seat belt mechanism. All the cars that are checked are recorded by vauxhall and a main dealer should be able to access the list.
If the fault is due to this failure, no matter how old the vehicle, the dealer will replace it free under this recall.

When mine car was checked, the whole belt assembly was removed.
I believe the tensioner is part of the belt assembly.

Hope this helps
