Hi there. Making use of a storage cupboard.

Have my rail secured at both ends but finding middle support has fallen through. Did put very small wall plugs in but it seems to have broken free. Does anyone have any suggestions? As it is a cupboard I don't have the luxury of picking a wooden rafter above.

Is it a plasterboard ceiling?

Wall anchors - although you will need the tool to fit them properly.

OR

A piece of wood above.

Thank you very much everyone for your help.
If I were to go with the wall anchors. You mention a tool will be needed...
Is this what you mean...

Am not putting much on it for now so it is fine as it is, but do want to get it fixed up properly in time.
Thanks again for your help and yes, it is just a plaster ceiling, no wooden struts are near to it and I am not really able to move it much as otherwise coat hangers will not fit - it is not a very deep cupboard so quite limited on where the rail can go.

If you can get up into the space above then a bit of timber long enough to fit over a pair of rafters and a wooden block that goes between the timber and ceiling will give support.
To be honest just a biggish bit of ply resting directly on the top of the ceiling would do it. Unless you're hanging stuff like fur coats. It would spread the load like a snow shoe

can you get into the ceiling space, lifting floorboards etc? If so, you could put a bit of ply or something on the ceiling board and bolt into that.

Given you already have the holes, I would go with these

cheaper than screwfix

I wouldn't use them for fixing a radiator to a wall, but they will be fine securing the pole.

I actually have a load of these in the shed, but I have found when fixing them into the wall, they leave such a bl00dy mess in the wall. Is there an art to getting them in without making the wall such a mess?

I can get above, it is the loft. There is so much insulation, but when I get a moment, I will see if I can move it and see what sort of space I have to work with.
