Security light, wire to a socket?

I wish to fit a motion detecting security light to the back of my house. Can I wire it into a 3 pin plug and plug it in to a socket on the ring main or does it have to be connected to the lighting circuit?

yes u can wire in 1mm into plug then replace fuse in plug with 3amp

Yes, I did this very sucessfully in previous house and saved lots of hastle - just remember to loop outside part of cvable downwards to avoid any drips getting into the lamp!
