Security lighting problems

I'm trying to fit a security light for my drive and have had some unusaul side effects when adding it onto one of the existing lighting circuit for my house.

I'm pretty sure I've wired it correctly, however when the security sensor is not activated the light that is immeadiatly before it on the circuit (my hall light) illuminates, but only very dimly!!

Any ideas????

It sounds like you are connecting between a live and a switch live as opposed to between a live and a neutral.
