Security Lights, Outdoor Lights

One of the switched FCU's is in the dining room,

The other switched FCU is in the kitchen,

Literally opposite ends of the house,

So to connect four spotlights to one FCU would me chasing the exterior wall to connect both pairs,

Or installing another FCU would mean a heap of work!

Fair enough. You've been told the options, and the pros and cons thereof, so I guess it's now down to you to decide what way to go, in terms of convenience, aesthetics etc.

How, and from where, will you get the feed to the PIR?

Kind Regards, John

I'm completely happy with the advice received, no qualms there.

It's just frustrating that the previous owners hadn't given any consideration to security lights on a PIR alongside some aesthetic lighting......

As for what I'll do now it's back to the drawing board I guess.....

Ultimately I'd like to have two floodlights at the rear of the house and four aesthetic lights without having too many cables trawling back and forth across the wall......

Perhaps I should consider a length of flex and junction boxes to link the two sets of spots together to the dining room switched FCU. Then using the other FCU use that to run flex from a junction box up to the spotlights with PIR fitted and rely on a quick on off technique should I ever want them on for entertaining in the garden.....

Yes, you could consider that - it's obviously very close to one of the suggestions I made.

It is indeed I'd just rather not have such a long run of cable apparent on the external wall.....

I could resort to getting spotlights with a PIR to replace each spot on the left of the circuit and then have the second spot on the right work as a slave, I just don't think the light throw will be very impressive nor the detection are of the PIR.....

I suppose it depends upon how much work and disruption you are prepared to contemplate - one option would presumably be to go through the wall and have the horizontal cable run indoors, beneath upper floor floorboards, leaving minimal cable visible outside.
