Hi, i need to level a floor thats been concreted but its about 70mm deep, i dont want to use that much self leveling compound only about 3mm, whats best to fill some space above concrete apart from more concrete, can you make a homemade self leveling compound from sand and cement and then put leveller over the top or can i use insulation board without it getting crushed? Thanks

Down to cost. You can get Marmox backing boards upto 50mm thick, but needs screwed down, then 20mm self leveller on top. Some levellers will go to an inch deep.

Personally, a weak concrete mix screeded down to just under 70mm and then self levelled off will be the best bet. Using three parts building sand to one rapid hardening cement mixed with 50/50 water and SBR as the leveller.
