i wonder if anyone can help, i have a newlec floodlight and separate pir sensor. The pir sensor has no earth but the lamp states it must be earthed. i was going to power it straight off the fusebox without a switch?
You must have an isolation switch. Its in the wiring instructions.
If your wiring goes to the PIR first (it probably will) then terminate the earth conductor at the PIR in a piece of terminal block and then connect the earth on the cable going to the light.
Please be aware that if you run a cable direct from the consumer unit, this constitues a new circuit and is therefore notifiable work under Building Regulations.
