Can I lay SWA (coming from CU in boiler room) in a service gulley rather than burying it?? When I say service gulley I am thinking of the type of gulley with a grate over the top that you sometimes see.

If not can I use large diameter ducting that I stand a chance of pulling cable through at a later date??

Regards

Cheers - does the gulley have to be raped up at the ends to stop rodents getting in??

I just told you not to use a gulley in the manner you described. If the gulley is being used for drainage, its manufactured purpose, then it should be terminated with stoppers at the ends, and I expect these are available wherever the gulley is sold.

Raping is bad mmmkay 8)

If you really meant ducting then it will be buried so I don't think you need to bother, also I doubt a rat can chew through SWA.

I have bunged up the duct between my house and garage, to stop it being used my mice / rats.

might not be a problem, but I don't want to encourage them by providing a convenient entrance to under the floor :)
