I don't get the concept of setback thermostats when you can quite easily set your underfloor hearing to come on at a low economical temperature anyway can't you?

New baby keeping me up! It was after midnight not 3am???

Thermostat answer?

It was a thermostat answer. At least to a rather poorly written question.

Then idea being to reduce the temperature but not require too much input to bring the room back up to comfort temperature.

A decent thermostat will predict the heat up time and adjust its actual on time accordingly.

Dan is correct, some of the better designed stats can function in several modes.

Implementing 'predictive set back' can work in conjunction with (or compliment) 'start up anticipation' - this means the stats self learning ability will work in both high (normal)and low (set back) modes - - - in other words 'continuously'

The concept of *low economical temperature* is open to debate.
