Setting height of radiators on wall

What is the 'standard' position of radiators when hanging on walls, in relation to the skirting boards etc. Is it normally bottom edge of radiator to top edge of skirting, slightly higher or what.

I have a mixture of 500 and 600mm high rads.

for a 4 inch skirting i usually mount it so the bottom of the rad is an inch above it.

For Stelrad Compacts I measure 10 1/2" to bottom of the wall bracket which gives 8" off floor level.

Basically above top of skirting then, so you can paint them (skirting).

It also allows you to fix pipe clips to the wall under the rad, (if needed) rather than fixing to the skirting which always looks awful.
