After about a year of bad smells in the kitchen, we got a drain specialist in who charged us seventy quid for swilling some water round our drain but didn't offer any long term solution to the problem which is...
On flushing the toilet (upstairs), the sewage comes down very quickly. Unfortunately, the poo doesn't know to take the left turn towards the main sewer (red line) and instead keeps going straight on and splashes onto a mini 'embankment' (brown line) where it stays... and smells... until I hose it away. This alleviates the problem temporarily until the build-up returns.
We have been in this house for 6 years now but we only noticed the problem within the last year or so. We're not sure but it may coincide with the fitting of a new toilet about 2 years ago.
Can anyone suggest anything to stop this problem and ensure the poo takes a left, or at least doesn't build up as it is currently.
I have put a photo below (sorry if you are squeamish!) showing 4 days worth of action (blue line is neighbours drain).
