In this house which is 10 years old, it has wooden flooring in the living room/lounge. when I run on the spot, the sideboard and display cabinet about 50cm away move in sync with my running. It is more movement than normal - I say this because i have tried running on the spot in other peoples houses.

The kitchen which has vinyl flooring is rock solid when u jump up and down - there is very little movement of anything.

The property has suspended timber flooring throughout with
chipboard floorboards.

Is there something wrong with the wooden flooring?

Can it be fixed?

and if so, how much?

Woodchip is a poor sub-floor fullstop. It's cheap and has no real strength but used because of it's price and speed in laying. Your joists beneath it will probably be at the very limit of what building regs allow these days if your house is only 10 yrs old. It may be better in your kitchen for one of 2 reasons..... 1, your sub-floor is concrete or 2, the floor span is much less than in your lounge.

Solution,,, walk don't run lol
