Hi, are there any regulations regarding the positioning of a shaver socket near a basin. Thanks.

The shaver socket should be fed off an RCD protected circuit (Older properties probably did not have RCD lighting circuits in them), so where required, fit an RCD 3amp fused spur outside the bathroom door, and feed the shaver socket off from that instead.

Absolutely.

Mea culpa.

No excuses, and no attempt to make any.

Sorry.

1) It must be suitable for the environment, which may well mean using one with an isolating transformer.

2) If it's inside one of the numbered Zones you're required to apply for Building Regulations approval in advance unless you use a registered electrician, because the work is notifiable.

The shaver socket should be fed off an RCD protected circuit.
While that is certainly implied in the regulations, and would most likely be required if the wiring was concealed in the wall, in reality what possible purpose could an RCD supplying an isolation transformer achieve?

What about condensation getting into the pre isolation wiring, or a fault to the metal faceplate screws. I'm clutching at straws a little bit but you never know.

The RCD rule is more a general thing for all equipment in bathrooms, and isn't really aimed at equipment supplied from isolating transformers.
