Hiya,

Wasn't really sure where this belonged!

I want to fit a mortice lock on our shed, only i'm not sure how it would be done. In a normal internal door, you dig out the wood and recess the unit inside but normal shed door are single pane with timber frame.

Or is there a certain type of mortice designed to be, I suppose, surface mounted?

Thanks

Thanks.

I had read about RIM locks being 'less' secure than mortice, hence preferring to use the latter.

Is there any truth in that?

My guess is that it depends on the value/cost of the lock which may indicate the security level of the keys.

Pay little for a lock and you'll maybe get one of 10/20 key variations.

Pay a decent amount and you'll maybe get one of several hundred/thousand key variations.

I'm no expert on locks, but you obviously need to decide on the security level of your shed in the selection of the lock.
