I am currently building a base for a 16'x8' (pressure treated) shed and an 8'x5' of the base will be on the site of existing decking.

My plan is to remove the decking, then put part of the shed on the decking joists (this appears to be very sturdy and professionally installed), making sure the 8' length of shed edge sits exactly on a joist. Floor bearers will then run across the remaining joists, and flooring on top. The remainder of the base will be made up with concrete slabs level with the joists.

The reason for using the decking joists is 1) installation of services (will be a washroom), 2) good ventilation to that part of the shed (washroom...), 3) less work digging up joists, and installing concrete slabs.

Are there any pitfalls with this plan that anyone can foresee.... any modifications advised?

Much appreciated, John
