My socket ring main fuse keeps tripping. I have now found that when the power is on the earth becomes live... All the connections at the sockets are fine, wheres the next place I should look? I have had an electrician in to have a look, and says I need a full re-wire... Is this the case?? Or could i just find the leg with the fault and just replace that?? Any help would be good!!

if its rubber or lead sheathed it needs replacement period
if its pvc then you should be able to find the faulty leg and either replace the broken leg or split the ring into 2 20A radials
if its pvc of suitable and a sparky writes it off without doing any testing i would be very suspicious and at the very least get a second opinion
