Should architraves go to the floor?

My door linings are all shy of the floor by about 10mm or so. When putting the architrave on, should I put it to the floor, or to the same depths as the lining?

I didn't notice how they were before I ripped the old ones off.

Then I would say it doesn't really matter.

A small gap would make it easier and look neater for carpet.
