Should I fix crack first?

I'm having two room replastered and having now taken the wallpaper off the walls I've seen there's a few cracks in the surface. When I tap them they don't sound great so I wondered whether you would suggest raking them out and filling before the plasterer does the job? The house is a 1972 property if that helps too.

I'll get him round to have a look but wondered if you could give me your opinion before I get him round.

If there are any defects such as hollow sounding plaster, cracks, flaking etc. They are best repaired prior to any over coating of plaster.

Would you suggest drawing round the crack/area with a marker pen and the using an angle grinder to cut out the blown plaster? What would you fill the hole up with? Thistle bonding?

You do not need to rack out the cracks with angle grinder.
Just use a bolster chisel.

Bonding can be used to make repair, prior to over-skim.

Thanks. The paper is now all off but the walls are a bit sticky from the wall paper paste. Is this a problem for the plastering? Any advice?

Yes, I would get wallpaper paste off the wall before a skim is applied.
Sugar soap or water with some fairy liquid should be ok, and perhaps dry off with an old towel to make sure it's gone.
