Hi guys - newbie here ! 8)

We have a problem on our shower that its constantly running hot , when on full power. If we change it to the economy setting , then its not too bad, but obviously there is less of a water flow. The cold water setting is fine.
This happens even when no other appliance (hose, toilet etc) is running. The power of the shower is okay.
Im not at home , so cant check the model right now. It is about 10 years old , and think its a Triton ? But will check.

I know that the water in Worcs can be hard, and cause problems.
Im happy to try a few things myself, but just looking for some advice before I call a plumber / electrician.

Cheers for any advice.

First things - confirm all service valves etc. are fully open. Check the hose isn't twisted, reducing the flow, and clean the shower head.

Limescale building up in the head reduces the flow slowly, almost imperceptably, over time until the reduced flow gets overheated.

Next would be check the filter (strainer?) in the water inlet is not full of limescale, grit etc.

The head is okay as water is coming out okay .

What /where are the service valves and water inlet ?

Thanks for the tips . Im sure its something inside the shower 'box' is corroded due to the hard water we have... but thats just my guess.

Have you tried running the shower with the hose disconnected from the handset? A cooler water flow from the end of the hose would indicate restrictions in the handset.

Service valves usually look something like this:-

They are not always fitted, and when they are, they may be hidden away under bathtubs, in lofts etc. etc.
They are used to isolate individual taps and fittings for... er... servicing.
They are fully open when the screwdriver slot is in line with the valve body, and closed when the slot runs across the body.

Inlet filter gauzes are often sandwiched between the pipe fittings where the water supply enters the shower unit. sometimes this means opening / dismantling the shower unit to get at them.

Limescale buildup in the heater usually slows the heat transfer to the water, resulting in cold showers.

Thanks Tickly , will have a look at home tonight.

Just to confirm that when on the 'cold ' setting , cold water is coming out okay. It just when on the 2 red lines setting , for max , it is just hot water that is coming out.

Took the shower head off, and the water coming out of the pipe that goes into the shower head is hot.

Model is a Triton Ivory by the way.

Looks like I need to call plumber / electrician ? :(
