Hi there,
My friends in-laws are having their bathroom refitted and being the nosey git that I am I had a look round as the work is halfway through.
The old shower has been replaced with a new one on the old cable,it's a mira and is 9.5kw.The cable is 6mmsq.
Anyway to the point,as it is like for like would the shower need cross bonding as it appears not to have been before.
It is still not tiled yet so would like to point it out before they make hard work for themselves.

Also when the work is done should they be provided with a certificate to state that the work has been carried out or inspected by a part p certified electrician?

Shower should be supp bonded to other cpc's of circuits feeding the bathroom & pipework, baths etc...

9,5kW is a bit on the high side for 6 milli, depending on circuit characteristics.

The spark should either self certify or have notified the LABC beforehand.

There should definitely be paperwork. If it were a like for like change, there may not be paperwork, but if the previous shower was < 9,5kW, then it is not a LFL change.
