hi guys. i have just had an electrician come round to look at wiring up my shower fan. he said he will fit the isolator switch in the ceiling in the bathroom, i questioned this and he said everyone does this, but he would not be able to give me any certification or anything and it would be best if i said i fitted it myself if anyone asked. can the isolator be fitted in the bathroom or does it have to be fitted outside the room. thanks in advance

There's nothing wrong with putting it in the ceiling, as long as it is in Zone 3, or outside the zones, and isn't going to get splashed.

There is a great deal wrong with an electrician who won't give you any certificates and tells you to say you fitted it yourself if asked (which, BTW, would be you admitting to a criminal offence).

I strongly urge you to have nothing to do with him.

but he would not be able to give me any certification or anything and it would be best if i said i fitted it myself if anyone asked
= he is not certified and is asking you to lie, plus, can you trust this none certified work !
