Trying to remove the valve at the end, the open/close valve, not the mixer, but it's solid.
Is it 'removable' does anyone know?

Thanks Terry. I know the evidence is obvious, but aside from the grips, I really have 'swung' on it using a mechanics' socket & wrench. Started me thinking it's not made to come out.

I'll give it another go.

They can be awkward to remove, have you considered a new bar mixer ? your valve shows scale build up in the ports.

have got them and similar out by pouring a 2 kettles of boiling water over and inside the brass valve, then unscrew while very hot

you have to remember they have been tightened by a machine and could have some jointing/thread seal compound especially if its made in china

swinging won't do - it needs shocking- air wrench or cordless impact driver. If you have a friendly garage/tyre place you use, take it there with the socket and a drink for them;)

Buy a new bar shower mixer, sorry seen them all some are better than others.

try to purchase a product from a local manufacture which is designed to work on uk water systems
