I have just bought a new mixer valve for my Supajet 102 shower because the spindle in the old one really creaked when I turned the temperature knob. I notice that the gear wheels are plastic (nylon). Is it ok to lubricate them with rubber or silicone lubricant before I fit them to prevent this happening again or is it best just to leave them as they are?

I've only replaced 2 mixer valves in the past but found them quite straightforward and had no problems.
Have a go and note what goes where. :D
