Shower problem

Hi,

I'm after some advice on replacing a shower. My current shower has started to leak water out of the valve underneath so therefore I'm thinking it's had it and I need to replace it. Does anyone know if I need to have it installed by a professional or is it something I can replace myself? I am presuming it will not be as easy as going to B n Q and buying a new one taking the old one off connecting it and then it will work!! Are they a universal fit? I have taken the front off the old shower to have a look and was stumped really! I am after advice from someone in the know of the easiest and quickest way for me to replace the shower wthout it costing lots of pennies!

The make of the shower is called Triton and I have seen one in B n Q the same make but it was a bit bigger.

Please help me !

whats the triton model thats faulty ?

I'm not sure of the model number and am at work at the minute so can't check.

There is a little plastic tube that sticks out of the bottom of the shower unit. I think it may be an over flow of some sort. I was rinsing out the bath and the unit made a cluck noise and water started to flow of the valve, the water also went cold.

I'll have a look for the model number when I get home.

the prd (pressure relief device) has activated due to pressure built up in the heat can useally due to showerhead restricted/blocked or hose kinked/damaged inside.

if it went cold sounds like you have acivated the tco aswell.

you can check the tco with a continuity test on them.

both cheap fixes.

What is a tco and how can I do a continuity test. This is like a whole new language!!!

use a multi meter set to continuity test across the two terminals.
