Well not quite randomly.

When I use one of thedownstaris taps that is connected directly into the hot water tank, for some reason the shower pump jumps into life for a few seconds (often happens on the bath hot water tap too).

A mate says it could be some air trapped in the pipes (possible as our other shower room has its shower pipes capped off at the moment awaiting a facelift).

Any advice welcome?

D

PS My mate is a Computer salesman so knows nothing about stuff like this :)

flow switch on pump is detecting flow from other outlets, could be plumbed in incorrectly

He's right enough! Air in the p[ipes can alct like springs, so the water bounces t and fro and activates flow switches.
Release the caps to try to let air out. Permanent installations sometimes need one-way valves to prevent this sort of thing happening.
