Shower Tray Sealant

Am now ready to start applying the Dow Corning recommended earlier but, (as usual), I have a problem. According to the tube, the silicone offers excellent adhesion to porcelain, glass, ceramics and painted surfaces but makes no mention of aluminium! I had intended to apply it around the aluminium strips beneath the doors and at the side. Will it do the job and seal the aluminium/ porcelain join?

If the aluminium is anodised (which it probably is) and the coating is in good condition, I don't see why it wouldn't stick and seal long term. Naked aluminium oxidises with a poorly adherent oxide layer which might be more problematic and might require an etching primer before application. I would phone the technical dept at Dow Corning and hopefully they can give you definitive advice.

It will stick as long as you clean surfaces with white spirit. :D

Contacted DC's customer support on line and they gave the go-ahead. Still, I like the idea of a final clean with white spirit and will take your advice. Thanks again.
