Hello all,

I was hoping someone might be able to offer me some advice.
I have an electric shower, a Triton Aquatronic 4, connected up directly to the mains, not the tank.
It has been in the property a while (at least 7 years) but last week it started cutting out. It works for about 5 minutes when you turn it on and then it will suddenly cut off. The power at the mains stays on and the power 'on' light stays illuminated as does the light showing you have it on heat setting 2 - but the 'low pressure' light also illuminates as it cuts out. It'll then stay off for a few seconds (less than a minute) and start working again, this time only for 5 to 10 seconds before cutting out and repeating the process. The temperature of the water during this 'stalling' also varies from scolding to freezing. It's been happening for about a week and seems to occur regardless of what time it is. The kitchen tap which is also on the mains seems to show no change in pressure?
My girlfriend swears she can smell something just before it cuts out but I'm not convinced...

Does this problem sound familiar to anyone?
Is it dying a slow death?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Pete

Yes, it's dying. Probably scaled up either inside, or maybe just the head so no water can get through blowing the pressure release device.
You can get a new on the net for £99 so don't mess around - just replace it. It will cost you more to get it fixed.
Make sure your fuse / cabling can handle the kilowattage of the new model though.
