Hi i need some help please.
The other night my 3 year old power shower turned itself on at 2:30am , no water was coming out , there was an awful burning smell and it set the fire alarms off.
I had to switch off the main power to the shower in the airing cupboard.
I called the manufacturer and they will repair it as its under an extended warranty.
However , what i wanted to ask was , shouldn't the shower have some sort of safety switch to stop this happening ? The manufacturer won't comment and will only replace like for like , which worries me slightly.
I just wanted to add the motor/pump has already been replaced twice in this unit

It would be the flow switch that has failed. But this will be the "safety" device you are thinking of.
Maybe you could have it wired thru a pull switch so it is not on when not in use to put your mind at rest
