I am upgrading my Electric Shower from 8.5kw to 9.5kw. This is connected to a 40amp fuse in consumer unit. Can I just swap out showers or do I have to change electrics as well.

Assuming:

1) that 9.5kW is the rating at 240V
2) the circuit cable should be on a 40A breaker in the first place

it'll be fine.

Is the circuit on an RCD?

Thanks for replying....I just measured cable size so the circuit is 40 amp on CU running on 6mm wiring( max 10m total length) Double pole switch, attached and 230v supply. Reading the new shower(mira) spec it recommends 45 amp fuse

Don't change the CB to 45A yourself as the Local Authority Building Control would need to be notified. Unless the cable is clipped to the surface and visible along its entire length, I doubt an electrician could do it for you.

As BAS says, if the 9.5kW rating is at 240V you should be OK as that is 40A.
