I have a problem re the waste for shower tray lines up exactly on a floor joist. i understand the max cut in the joist allowed is 0.25% of the joist diameter and this will be insufficient.
it is not really an option to raise the level as the waste depth is large.(fast flow system)
Any advice welcomed how to get round this problem...
im not able to consider moving the tray position due to limited bathroom space

what about bolting another joist alongside the old one and then cut a bit out the old one?

Is the waste in the middle of the try or in one corner? If the latter, can you rotate the tray by 90 degrees?

You could trim the joist & bolt a steel plate to both sides of the remaining part of the joist, i had to do this on mine & its been fine for 15 yrs but its not a great span approx 3m
