So my next dilemma is that the new shower waste trap rubber seal does not fit tight when the waste trap is tightened

It looks like the waste pipe compression fitting is tight against the wooden plinth preventing the trap seal tightening

Would this cause the trap to leak?

You'll need to cut away enough of the ply to allow that trap to seal correctly with the rubber washer. Silicone is a bodge and one which is likely to come back and bite you before long. Alternatively change the trap for one that'll accommodate the extra width of the ply.

Thanks

Shower try is bonded down to the ply unfortunately. Cutting ply is near impossible. :(

Is it likely there is a trap that is deeper in size?

Seems to be the compression nut on the waste that is causing the problem, take the trap along to a decent merchants and explain what you need. They should have several alternatives to offer, one of which will hopefully suit your needs.

Alternatively, fit a suitable waste to the tray, then you have the options of using either a standard trap, a HepVo valve, or a running trap further along the waste run.

Thanks.

Really struggling to find a solution. Will ring round a few plumbers merchants.

The pipe exits the outside pretty much where it disappears in the pic.

Well i bit the bullet and sealed the waste trap and tightened it up

Carried out the bucket of water test and pleased to reported it is leak free!

Cheers for all the input.
