I have a Siemens iQ500. It operates UK, but when I turn the drum by hand the following happens:
Clockwise: Silent, but resistance is felt around twice per revolution.
Anti-clockwise: Spins more smoothly, but has a constant noise.

I have removed the heating element to inspect the inside at the bottom, but there was only a piece of card in there which I removed.
I suspect that there is a wire or something inside, but I cannot get to it.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Bra wires used to often get between inner and outer drum, take the drain sump off the bottom and see if you can see it as you turn the drum.
Paddle fixings snapping and doing the same thing seems to also be a possibility.

Thanks for the reply. I already disconnected the drain sump and cleaned it out. I also removed the heating element which allowed me to view the outside of the drum as I rotated it by hand. I could not see anything stuck to the drum. That makes me think that the object is stuck to the sides of the outer drum. I never thought of checking paddle fixings, so thanks for that suggestion.
