Evening all, I am going to have my van sign written as I am now on my own.

Initially I was just going to make it quite simple, my full name, my trade and contact telephone numbers e mail etc. I am now thinking I should add some more detail such as, specialising in, Timber Windows and Doors, Wardrobes, Furniture to Fitted Kitchens, Doors, Cut and Pitch Roofing, floors "this is a bit random, but its hypothetical at this stage".

My issue is this, there are a few vans around the area I live which have, we do this this this this this this this this this and the list goes on written all over their vans and quite frankly I think it looks tacky, maybe even desperate, but I could be wrong. I think less is more, keep it simple sweetheart, or do you think more is better?

Deviating from letters, I may have photographs of my work put on the rear two panels of my van?

Cheers.

Carpentry Services

7 Day service

8am -10pm

Call Us on: 07**-******

Any good? Don't worry about 7 day service and 8am - 10pm as it means people can call you at these times. Even if you are out with the wife you can tell the customer that you are on a job and be round later on or tomorrow.

Andy

Ah,see, I have an issue with the word "services" it does have a ring "Carpentry and Joinery Services, hmmm for some reason that word riddles with me, however, I do like the rest of your wording Hertsdrainage, its quite friendly and open, food for thought, thank you.

7 day service doesn't sound quite right.
Its not emergency work and makes you look desperate for work.

Ok, just have 'Carpentry - Wood Works', 'Carpentry for your Home'

There many different words/wording you can have, you could even have a magnetic sign so that it is removable.

Andy

"Woodworks" sounds good.

David J Marks hosted a show by that name alone.

The 7 day service does work because I get people calling me on a Sunday to ask questions/advice and 9 out of 10 they will call back just because I was helpful. Also a lot of people work 6 days a week, so Sunday is good for them.

Andy

Be aware that on a vehicle "less is more"........

you are either..........

driving past pedestrians who have a limited time to read your message...
parked up and passing motorists have a limited time to read your message...
driving and fellow motorists have a limited time to read your message...

so keep it simple (which is also limiting  )

If your inviting calls on the Sabbath then you must be hard up for work.
Sunday is a day of rest.

If you can't earn a living in 6 days then following greed to work sunday won't earn it in 7.

How does any of that help the OP? He doesn't need to ask your permission to work 5, 6 or 7 days a week and he's looking to advertise seven days a week.
If you're going to troll, at least try to stay on topic

and he's looking to advertise seven days a week

Is he?
Where?

If I seen a carpentry service advertising for work on a sunday I'd give them a wide berth.

It's a van. Unless he's going to hide it under a tarpaulin from 5pm Friday till 7am Monday, it's a billboard. Which, if you look back, was the original topic.
I'm guessing he, like many folks, would be happy if you gave him a wide berth.

Yeah but "seven day service" is being suggested as writing for the van.

People see van adverts all the time. Doesn't mean they phone up the proprieter on the Sabbath to discuss work.
They'll never see ours though as we don't advertise.

Ok, I was asking for advice not too start an argument, but for the record, whether its right or wrong, I do not and will not answer my phone, home and landline on Sunday i may need the work but i also need a complete day off as do many. I agree less is more, thank you for your input.

BTW, if the money is right i will work on a Sunday then have Monday off, if i can!!! ;)
