I’m laying down a 1200 x 760 stone resin on a floor that isn’t level.

Manufacture instructions recommend a cement mix or silicone.

Silicone seems like the simpler option but can this be used to level a shower tray? Or would a sand cement mix be better for this?

What type of floor is it? If concrete I would self level first. If not then I level it out with board and packers.

Makes it so much easier to DIY lay and level the tray out properly, if the floor is level to start with.

Marine plywood

If it's going on marine plywood then I'd level that out first, then it'll be dead easy and then a silicone adhesive can be used to bed it on, with silicone sealant around the wall contact edges.

How would I do this? Not sure how I would do this with packers

OK, so if the chipboard is sitting on joists then either the joists are out or there something wrong with the chipboard. Either way the best way to level up, is to level up the chipboard by using joist width packers of say 3.5 mm ply or hardboard.

Good point made in the CC recently...

If it's a tray that can go on legs, with a riser kit, then no reason you can't use packers and silicone.

Sand and cement at that thickness will crumble and never bond properly to ply.

It’s not going on a riser - could I still use packers somehow?

Would it be easier to use tile adhesive and level by applying more where needed?

Tile adhesive (like sand and cement) can have trouble on ply, as suggested.

Yes you could use packers if it's a 40mm stone resin but I never like that approach as they could eventually crack. Especially with the more 'generous' of clients.

best way would be to lift the P5 and pack the joists till it's all level, no more dramas that way.
