Siliconing How to obtain the best finish

When l have to do any siliconing that needs to be neat (around baths and showers ) I use electrical tape l find it more flexible than masking tape and it pulls away from the silicon easier when you take it off.Also wipe off and clean up with white spirit if you spit on your fingers then you are putting bacteria into the silicon and it will go black at a later stage..

It will go black if you use the wrong silicone not if you spit on it, insulation tape is a new one to me, but whatever works for you
