hi a very silly question for you i have to build some garden walls i will be using ton bags of basalt what's the normal ratio for cement to basalt is it 4:1 or 3:1

also what's the same for mortar is it again 3:1

finally i have to build a small retaining wall about a 700mm high for a flower bed and edge of the driveway. How deep should the foundations be 100 or 200 mm single or double skin wall.

cheers

jon

4:1 or 3:1 are both far stronger than you will need.

1:6 would be plenty strong enough for a small foundation.

Same with the mortar...you don't need to mix it as strong as 1:3. 1:4 would be plenty strong enough.

Make the foundations 225 deep by 450 wide with 215mm of brick/block on top
