Im thinking of ordering (&fitting) a wooden loft hatch & door 1100mm x 700mm but the passage ceiling is only 780mm wide at points...I cant see why that should be a problem but I just wanted to check what people think...

the distance between joists i dont know, but the joists run across east-west as the hatch will be north south (so to speak)..
