Do people people recommend getting Single Pole switches or Double Pole switches on 13A Sockets. Obviously switching Neutral and Live is better, but is it overkill?

It is more important to buy a good-quality brand.

You may find that they come DP switched anyway. If there is a choice DP is slightly preferable IMO but I don't know how much extra I would be willing to pay.

DP are, as JohnD says slightly better, turning them off will isolate both L&N which in the case of an RCD tripping can be slightly advantageous (or just unplug it). IIRC they are also a requirement for caravans.

Good move. I saw SP and DP sockets in the same MEM catalogue too, I wouldn't be surprise if the SP are an old design that will eventually be phased out.
