Hi all, ive been diy soldering for years.
We've just had a single story side extension built.
I'm just after thoughts as ive told the builder I'll run the pipework etc.

I ve 2 choices.

Notch the joists for the pipe runs .
Or clip under neath each joist and lag in 25mm insulation

, it just seems a bit of a hike to bend the pioes up and termiantebto the rads.
I know I can Notch out the joist for each rad joint uo to 1.9 cm(6inch joist)

Whats other people's preferences?

I'm using copper and trying to stay away form drilling the joists

That's what I thought .
I'm only a seasoned diyer, but the plumber is happy for me to do .
How do people bring from under then up to each rad, do you just bend the pipe up and then notch the joist just below where the rad tails are .

Thanks

Get yourself some of these

Hi.
I have over 200 of the normal type clips same as these but not angled , I'll be using these as I have a side power driver and can easily get the screw in underneath.

Thanks

Insulate first then use galv band or similar. Saves trying to insulate round clips.

A bend with a nice radius and no joints will be better than elbows. Or do you mean the joist is against the wall and in the way of pipes turning upward.

I think the pipes should be far enough out to miss that, 40mm for a k1, 70mm for a k2, plus whatever thickness you are finishing the wall with.

So done the hot and cold for the sink , cold for the toilet and cold feed for a washer in utility.
I went for clipping underneath, but will lag it all once ive checked for leaks.
Was having a bad soldering day today , but managed it lol.

Obviously I can't lag the bent pipes in 25mm from or the pipes that go up the wall.

What alternate would suffice for building control to pass.

I'll be using 25 mm foam for the long runs.
