Sink not flat on top

I've just received a wall mounted sink, and the top is pretty wavy (about 10mm deviation across the top). That last sink I got a few years ago was also not at all flat on top, and was a nightmare to tile.

I'm wondering how common is this? I'm not sure if I should send it back.

Rubbish quality basins are unfortunately more common than one would hope.

It's just for a guest en suite, so I was hoping to do it on the cheap. Maybe I'll return it and go for a better brand. However the offset overflow on the villeroy and boch compact sinks would sent my OCD nuts (they have obviously done it for space saving reasons)!
