sink plug connection

hi
how do i tighten up the waste that the plug goes into.ive made it hand tight but its leaking. its a big nut and my tools dont fit it what do i need to use.

Is it for a basin?

If so the cheap wastes leak, B&Q sell a conned rubber washer called a basin mate or a vanity bowl sealer or something.

My advise is to fit a decent brass chrome plated waste (if not already) and use the basin mate with it.

yeah its for the basin, is hand tight how you tighten them, or is there a spanner for it. i didnt have a washer so i used silicone.

As JayJay said, you will need something like a set of waterpump pliers to tighten up the backnut
