You’ve posted in the wrong forum but I spotted it anyway! I generally undo the screws, pull them away from the wall, wrap them in a sandwich bag with tape & skim around them. If there are several close together or positioned where they will make skimming awkward, I remove the face plate, fix the wires into a temporary terminal block, wrap it in insulation tape & Gaffa tape the whole lot back inside the box.
If you’re attempting this yourself, you must ensure there is no chance of the metal trowel touching a live terminal behind the switch/socket!
