skoda turbo problem

Hi there,

I have recently bought a 2002 vw passat tdi 130, on the way home yesterday i lost all boost!! I had no smoke coming from the rear but could clearly hear that the turbo wasnt spinning. I pulled over and switched off the engine, re started and i then had some boost again.

Would these symptons be the MAF sensor?

No. Sudden loss of power that resets itself after switching off is often related to overboost - at what engine speed was the power suddenly lost? I would guess that it was over 3000rpm, and if you stay below this, the problem won't occur.
If this is the case, it could be sticking turbo vanes, or the boost control solenoid or a blockage / restriction in the vacuum system. Connecting the car to a diagnostic software such as VAGCOM should give a pretty good idea of what's wrong.

By the way, is there any update on the problem with Toffee's Skoda?
