Hi, can somebody please advise if I need to rest my concrete lintel on slate , or not?. It’s 1200mm long by 215mm wide by 60mm high.
I’ve seen many examples where no slate or shims or used at all ,and a few where a few pieces of slate are hammered in under the lintel ?

cheers

Slate and other packings are generally used when retro fitting a lintel to push it up tight against the masonry above it. If you're just bedding it you don't need any.

It can be used if required, ideally seating is level so not then needed .
