Looking at making some sliding wardrobe doors. The wife is keen on having a frame with a ratten screen. Straight forward enough
I am currently mulling over possible options for the constrution and interested to see what othrs think.
Image attached of what I am trying to achieve - clearly a very basic frame.
Each door would be around 800mm wide - 2000mm tall. Looking at runner kits at the moment, but ideally secured top and bottom on rails. Will be painted when done.
Options
1) Treat each door as one piece and cut out of 18mm MR MDF sheet. Rout a rabbet in the back for the ratten and securing bead.
or build conventionally using stile & rails, out of a stable wood like Tulip / Polar.
2) Using pocket holes to join.
3) But using dowels or loose tenon.
4) But half lap joints and glue.
5) Mortice and tenon - Material may be to thin for this.
Any preference to approach, are there other techiques I have missed? Would all of these work? Am I over thinking it all - quite probably.
Cheers
James
