Hi everyone

I’m looking for some advice on a some repair work i had done for me on my stone slate roof. there were loose/slipped tiles and broken ones that needed replacing.

I am curious to what the usual rate is on replacing these?

There were two of them doing the roofing and took them approximately 2 hour to finish..

All this was done from a roofing ladder, and must of replaced at least 15 slates..

I was given a estimate price of £350 to £400 does this sound fair to you or a bit steep?

Thanks Margaret

What was the final price?

Slate tiles cost about £3 each so 15 would be £60 for the lot. Then £300 for labour, which is £75 per hour per man. That's more than my dentist earns!

Sounds reasonable to me, don;t forget you are paying them for their expertise, equipment, van, insurance etc etc not just their time.
